Data & Privacy

Where is my resume data stored?

Your resume data is stored locally on your device in your browser's LocalStorage. It never goes to our servers. Your personal information stays with you unless you download the PDF or manually share it.

Is my data safe on ResumeFlow?

Yes. Because your data is stored locally on your device and not on our servers, there's no centralized database that could be breached. Your data is as safe as your device. We use HTTPS encryption for all communication between your browser and our website.

What happens to my resume if I clear my browser cache?

Your resume data will be deleted if you clear your browser's cache or LocalStorage. This is why it's important to download your resume as a PDF before clearing your cache. We recommend downloading your resume regularly as a backup.

Does ResumeFlow store any of my information?

We don't collect or store your resume content on our servers. We don't collect your email, phone number, or any personal information. We may collect minimal analytics (page views, general traffic patterns) to understand site performance, but nothing personal.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. Since your data is stored in your browser, you control it completely. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's LocalStorage or cache. You can do this through your browser settings.

Is my data private from Google AdSense?

Yes. Google AdSense is used for ads only. AdSense does not have access to your resume content. Your resume data is stored locally in your browser and is never sent to Google. Only standard web analytics are shared with Google AdSense.

Do you comply with GDPR?

Yes. Since we don't collect or store personal data about you, GDPR requirements are automatically satisfied. Your data is your own from the start. If you're in the EU and have concerns about data practices, visit our Privacy Policy.

Resume & Templates

How many resume templates does ResumeFlow have?

We have 9 professionally-designed resume templates: Professional, Modern, Minimal, Creative, Popular, Trending, Classic, Compact, and Colorful. Each template is ATS-optimized and works across different industries.

Are the templates ATS-friendly?

Yes! All ResumeFlow templates are specifically designed to pass Applicant Tracking Systems. We avoid decorative elements, use clean formatting, standard fonts, and structured layouts that ATS software can parse correctly.

Can I change templates after I've filled in my information?

Yes! Your data is preserved when you switch templates. You can choose a different template at any time, and all your information will appear in the new template's format.

Can I customize the templates?

The current version of ResumeFlow provides fixed templates. However, you can control the content you put in them. We're always working on new features, so check back for updates!

What's the ideal resume length?

Entry-level: 1 page. Mid-career (5-10 years): 1-2 pages. Senior-level (10+ years): 2 pages maximum. Quality matters more than length. Every line should add value.

Can I download my resume in other formats besides PDF?

Currently, ResumeFlow exports resumes as PDF, which preserves formatting and is accepted by all companies. PDF is the standard and safest format for resume submissions.

What sections should my resume have?

Most resumes should include: Contact Information, Professional Summary, Work Experience, Education, Skills, and Certifications. Depending on your situation, you might add: Volunteer Work, Projects, Languages, or Publications.

Writing & Optimization

What are ATS keywords and why do they matter?

ATS (Applicant Tracking System) keywords are specific terms from job descriptions that screening software looks for. If your resume includes relevant keywords, it's more likely to pass ATS screening and reach a human recruiter. Use keywords naturally throughout your experience and skills sections.

How do I make my resume ATS-friendly?

Follow these ATS best practices: Use standard headings (Experience, Education), avoid graphics/headers/footers, use standard fonts, use simple bullet points, keep a single-column layout, include relevant keywords, save as PDF, and don't use tables or text boxes.

Should I include a cover letter with my resume?

A cover letter is often optional but can help you stand out. Include one if: the job posting asks for it, you're changing careers (explain your transition), you have a connection at the company, or you want to add personality. Cover letters matter more for competitive positions.

How often should I update my resume?

Update your resume: whenever you get a new job, whenever you complete significant projects or achievements, before job searching, and before tailoring for specific positions. Keep a master resume with all your accomplishments.

Should I include a photo on my resume?

In most industries (US, UK, Canada), don't include a photo. It can lead to bias and isn't professional. Exceptions: some European countries and creative industries may expect photos. When in doubt, skip it.

What's the best way to list my education?

List your degree, institution name, graduation date (month and year), and GPA if it's 3.5 or higher. If you're still studying, write 'Expected graduation: [date]'. Don't list high school if you have a college degree.

How do I handle employment gaps on my resume?

Be honest and positive. Include what you did during the gap (freelance work, education, volunteer work, family care). Use dates by month and year to be transparent. In interviews, briefly explain without over-sharing.

Should I include every job I've ever had?

Not necessarily. Include relevant jobs that show career progression. You can omit very early-career positions that aren't relevant. After 10+ years in a field, your early entry-level jobs become less important.

Job Search Tips

How many resumes should I send out?

Quality over quantity. Apply to positions you're genuinely interested in and qualified for. Most job seekers apply to 10-20 positions per week when actively job searching. Tailor each resume for the specific role.

Should I tailor my resume for each job?

Absolutely. Tailoring significantly improves your chances. Reorder your experience to highlight relevant skills first, mirror keywords from the job posting, and emphasize accomplishments related to that specific role. This takes 15-30 minutes but is well worth it.

What should I do after I submit my resume?

Follow up after 1-2 weeks if you haven't heard back. If you have a contact at the company, send them a brief message. Continue your job search rather than waiting. Apply to multiple positions simultaneously.

How long does it typically take to get job responses?

Response times vary widely. Large companies may take 2-4 weeks. Startups might respond in days. Many companies never respond. A typical response rate is 1-2%. Don't take rejections personally—keep applying.

Should I include salary expectations on my resume?

Generally no. Keep salary discussion for later in the process. Research typical salaries for your role in your location beforehand. If required, provide a range rather than a single number.

How do I decide between multiple job offers?

Compare: salary and benefits, growth opportunities, company culture, work-life balance, location/commute, and alignment with your goals. Negotiate before accepting. Trust your gut feeling about the company and team.

Troubleshooting

My resume looks different when I download it as PDF. Why?

PDF rendering can vary slightly from screen display. This is normal. Always preview the PDF before submitting. If formatting is broken, try a different template or adjust your content length.

I lost my resume data. Can you recover it?

Since data is stored locally on your device, we can't recover it if it's deleted. However, if you downloaded a PDF previously, you have a backup. Always download your resume regularly as backup.

ResumeFlow isn't loading on my device. What should I do?

Try: refreshing the page, clearing your browser cache, using a different browser, disabling browser extensions, or checking your internet connection. If problems persist, email support@resumeflow.in with details about your device and browser.

My content is disappearing when I switch templates.

This shouldn't happen. If it does, immediately email support@resumeflow.in with details. We'll investigate. As a precaution, download your resume regularly as backup.

Can I export my resume data to use elsewhere?

You can download your resume as a PDF. The PDF contains all your content and can be printed, shared, or imported into other tools. Your data is always yours to use.

I have a technical issue with ResumeFlow. How do I report it?

Email support@resumeflow.in with: your browser/device, what you were doing when the issue occurred, what went wrong, and screenshots if possible. We respond within 1 business day.
